How do you attach buckles to nylon straps (sewing, glue, both?)?

I need to make straps for holding items to my backpack. I am using 3/4%26quot; nylon straps and need to attach buckles. How should the buckles be attached?

How do you attach buckles to nylon straps (sewing, glue, both?)?
They will need to be sewn or thermally welded. Sewing is the easiest if you have access to a machine. If not, take it to a shoe repair shop, a place that makes tents or boat covers, or even to a tailor shop. If you sew it yourself, sew a square around the outside, then do an x in the center of the square. You can;t use regular thread, you need to use a heavy duty coated polyester thread.
Reply:Sew them with a machine if you have access to one, if you hand sew them you will need an awl and needle unit. The nylon straps do not take glue very well. Use a contrasting color thread when you sew the straps.
